"A Goof Named Tiny Rufe" - Action Comics #55

Jerry Siegel sends up fellow cartoonist Al Capp, creator of “Li’l Abner,” as well as his and Joe Shuster’s success with Superman!

Historical note: Just one days after the release of this issue, the second Superman cartoon produced by Famous Studios was released, having taken over production from Fleischer Studios. It was the 11th short overall in the series. The short, titled “Showdown,” is now in the public domain and can be downloaded at the Internet Archive. The same day, the first short in Terrytoons’ Superman spoof “Super Mouse” was released. The short, titled “Mouse of Tomorrow,” would change its name to “Mighty Mouse” in early 1944.
